99% of textiles go into landfill nowadays. We could be more responsible for the garment we are making, so we created biodegradable fabrics. We develop polyester that contains organic additives that enhance the biodegradation, which only activates when it’s covered in the landfill. There is no concern for everyday use. After testing (ASTM D5511), 21% of the fabric can be biodegraded after 200 days. It’s not possible to test when the fabric will be 100% biodegraded, but when the biodegradation starts, it won’t stop until the fabric is completely biodegraded.
