2019’s three day long Taipei Textile Exhibition, TITAS, has already concluded as of October 9th. Every year the Taipei Textile Exhibition, hosted by the Taiwan Textile Federation, attracts industry textile buyers from many countries around the world to come to Taiwan for the three-day event. This year, TITAS brought together 12 different countries, 423 total manufacturers, and 20 Taiwanese textile trade associations to participate in the exhibition.
Eysan Fabrics, a local part of the textile “silicon valley” in Taiwan, was, of course, a part of the exhibition as well. In this exhibition review, we want to look back with you on the key trends and Eysan Fabric’s exhibition highlights for this year’s Taipei Textile Exhibition.
Key Trends of 2019’s Taipei Textile Exhibition
Sustainable Textile
The key trends of this year’s exhibition, just like in years past, revolved around environmental issues. The environmental damage caused by the printing and dyeing industries has always been a key issue that the global textile industry has wanted to cooperatively solve. In light of this problem, sustainability has become a main focus of almost every single textile exhibition in the last few years.
The manufacturers’ displays at this year’s exhibition focused on conserving water during the dyeing and finishing processes of textiles, taking advantage of recycled fabrics, and using biodegradable yarns.
An enormous amount of water is consumed during the traditional processes for dyeing and finishing fabrics, but with the newer waterless dyeing technique – solution dyeing/dope dyeing, which adds the dye to the fabric during the formation of the plastic masterbatch, the yarns that are extracted from the formation process are already colored yarns and do not need further dyeing ie, no extra water is used. This method of dyeing fabrics can also reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Furthermore, by employing recycled fabrics into new clothes, manufacturers give old clothes a second life and further prevent any extra use of water during the manufacturing of new products. In Taiwan, reusing old fabric into new articles of clothing is already a mature form of textile creation. Currently, many manufacturers accept and recycle old fabrics for their textile production. Additionally, more and more manufacturers have started to invest in methods for using ocean trash and plastic waste in the production of their yarns. At the same time, many studies are being conducted concerning the re-creation of yarns from discarded clothing.
Finally, many manufacturers also focused on their use of biodegradable yarns at their exhibits. Biodegradable yarns greatly reduce the burden old clothes create when they are placed into landfills, and this technology pushes the textile industry forward towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
Intelligent Manufacturing
With the increase in technological advancements, the textile industry also hopes to improve the quality of textiles through more efficient and sophisticated techniques. The industry can take advantage of technology to save time, money, and the environment. With this in mind, many manufacturers emphasized using a smart weaving solution in the lower and middle reaches of the textile industry’s vertical supply chain.
Functional Application
Functional fabrics have already been employed in specialized clothing other than just athletic wear. Current clothing trends have brought functional fabrics into clothing we wear every day. This clothing not only consists of functional fabrics, but the design of it also incorporates exciting styles, 3d weaving, jacquard weaving, and printed fabrics to further its appeal. Furthermore, comfort has not been sacrificed in the least when creating clothing out of functional fabrics.

Clothing should not feel restrictive, we not only sought after fabrics that provided the most flexibility, but we also strove for fabric that was smooth and delicate to the touch and the eyes.

Altering the texture of the fabric, imparting a jacquard effect, and making different prints on the fabric grants customers with all different kinds of feels when they see, touch, or wear Eysan’s fabrics.

Earth Friendly
Recycled yarns have already become a very popular trend among the textile industry, however, the next step is to use biodegradable yarns in the manufacturing of clothing so that when clothes are discarded into landfills, they will leave no trace and go back into the Earth.

Light and Fine
Delicate weaving methods combined with ultra-fine yarns in the fabric making process creates a fabric that is not only unrestrictive for wearers, but also allows the wearer to feel as if they have a weightless protective layer about them.
